Sharing a vision of design where the human relationship is at the heart of design, Johan Brunel and Nicolas Omet founded LOMA in 2020. With each project, the studio links the object, its context and its sponsor in a collective energy that makes them inseparable of the result. In the fields of design and architecture, LOMA is a craftsman of a direct link with production, and maintains in its interventions a balance between studio and workshop.

PHILOSOPHY

STUDIO

All you need is less: echoing a global situation of runaway and uncertainty, LOMA questions the fundamentals of design through attention to uses, materials and nature. Radical, pragmatic but not minimalist, LOMA responds to the complexity of reality with virtuous, simple and concrete solutions. The studio develops fertile concepts and frugal responses, with project management capable of guaranteeing the integrity and the requirement of high quality production.

RESPONSIBILITY

Taking care to produce economically and ecologically is a prerequisite in LOMA's approach. With the desire to cultivate a more harmonious relationship with humans, cities and the environment, LOMA adopts a posture of breaking away from uncontrolled consumption. The challenge is to design to last, physically and aesthetically, so that time again becomes an added value rather than a constraint in the life cycle of places and objects.

Nicolas

A traveler, photographer, architect, and designer, Nicolas is interested in the diversity of cultures and their expertise. He is a winner of the ANVAR grant for technological innovation (design) and the CNAM Grand Prix in Paris (architecture). After several years spent in an architectural firm as a project manager for cultural and social programs, he founded his studio in London in 2014, where he carries out high-end private projects. Keen to give meaning and creative force to everyday ecological issues, he embraces their environment with a mind that is as rational as it is sensitive.

Johan

A Finnish-born designer, Johan cultivates his northern heritage. His earliest memories are in Lapland, on lakes where a deep joy is born from the hospitality of a successful sauna, where every true encounter begins. In 2014, he won the Émile Hermès Prize for a bioclimatic rest refuge. In 2015, as a resident of the Villa Medici in Rome, he led a project around the question of water and thermal cultures. He continued this research on the notion of Comfort and the relationship with others through the culture of bathing in Japan, punctuated by a 6-month residency at the Villa Kujoyama (Kyoto) in 2018.
