The cooling island is an innovative piece of street furniture, made available to the general public to provide protection during periods of intense heat. Connected to the City of Paris's cooling network, operated by CLIMESPACE (a subsidiary of the ENGIE group), it offers welcome respite from the heat in the city.

 

An urban refresh

 

Inspired by the image of an ice floe, it intuitively invites passersby to sit down. Thanks to micro-perforated granite and solar-powered ventilation, it creates a welcome cool zone in summer. The first installation took place in August 2019, on the plaza of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
